13 Feb PLUG-IN for calculating forest fire probability, susceptibility and dangerousness cartography
Municipia developed a plug-in for QGIS that automates the process of calculating probability, susceptibility and dangerousness cartography of forest fires. Following the methodology of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and forests (ICNF), this process is described in the technical guide of the Municipal Forest Defense Plan against fires.
Briefly, the methodology consists in calculating the probability and susceptibility of the occurrence of forest fires, based on three variables:
– The history of burned areas;
– The occupation of the soil;
– The slopes.
The combination of probability and susceptibility maps produces the dangerousness map, which is one of the components that integrates the Defense Plans against Forest Fires.
The gains of the plugin are the speed and easiness of production/update of the hazard maps for forest fires.
The plug-in is available for free download from GitHub from Municipia:
